About Us

Michele Cunneen's career in Lab Animal Medicine started with a part time job in college which led to the realization that a scientist who understood the animal models, animals, and the researchers needs could have an impact on the quality of science and the advancement of animal welfare. In 2003 Michele started Animal Research Consulting to fill an unmet need in lab animal medicine, a one stop shop for all your animal research program needs. Today Michele uses her 30 years of experience and knowledge to help start ups have all the advantages of an entire animal care group without the overhead.

Compassion Fatigue

We have all heard or used some of the common strategies used in lab animal medicine, that does not work to deal with Compassion Fatigue including not naming animals (if it is #35 or Fred that is its name and you have a connection), institutional indifference to issue, telling others to suck it up, lack of data surrounding the reasons for experimental outcomes and euthanasia endpoints. Let's chat about what will work. Animal Research Consulting LLC is collaborating with Rekindle LLC to provide custom in house lab animal specific compassion fatigue workshops and seminars tailored to your facility.

Facility Planning Consulting

We can assist clients when it comes to planning, designing, and constructing facilities for research and related activities. We’ll make sure that you remain compliant with national standards while also meeting your needs.
